Oyo North Senatorial Districts : Hopeful Senatorial Aspirants

As 2019 election draws closer, the Political Observers in Oyo North Senatorial District have been following the the Political trends, who get ticket from each political party and where the pendulum is likely to swing.

In the light of this, oyovoice has gathered a list of four possible aspirants for the Senatorial position.

Here are the names of the possible Aspirants :

1. Honourable Tajudeen Abisodun Kareem.

He hails from Saki West local government, born on October 1,1968 (49-year of age) .
He was trained as an Estate Surveyor and contested for the position of House of Representatives in 2007 and won under the platform of Action Congress (AC) which has now metamorphosed in All Progressives Congress, APC.
He sought for re-election in 2011 under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the same position and also sailed through.
Tajudeen Abisodun Kareem attempted to go for a Senatorial seat under the platform of Labour Party, LP after dumping Peoples Democratic Party, PDP but lost to Ogbomosho born Senator, Senator Fatai Buhari.

Many people are of the view that he would seek for another opportunity to go for the Senatorial position in 2019 under a yet identified political party.

 

2. Senator Ayoola Hosea Agboola.

Senator Ayoola Agboola is an Okeogun indigene, born in 13th March, 1960.He has HND Estate Management and Masters degree  in Managerial Psychology. He was once a Supervisory Councilor for Works and  Commissioner for Local Government, Oyo State between 2003 and 2010 during the Administration of Otunba Adebayo Akala as the Governor of Oyo State.
He contested for a Senatorial seat under the platform of peoples Democratic Party, PDP and won in 2011 and head the Special Post of Deputy Chief Whip in the Senate.
He sought for re-election in 2015 under the same platform and lost to the underdog.

Many people are hoping that he might want to contest for the Senatorial position in the next political dispensation.

3. Shina Peller

Many people know him as the owner of the popular night club Quilox and the boss of Aquila records.
Shina Abiola Peller is an entrepreneur, industrialist and a philanthropist. Born on May 14, 1976 in Lagos, he traces his origins to Oyo State in Southwestern Nigeria and his father professor Peller was a famous magician in those days. Shina is famous for being the boss of Quilox Night Club which was launched in 2013, one of the hottest night clubs in Lagos at the moment. He studied Chemical Engineering at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho Nigeria and holds a Masters in Business Management from the same institution.
He has a charity foundation. The foundation is called Help The Blind And Handicapped. It provides assistance to physically challenged individuals by empowering them through scholarships and business grants.

Recently, he hosted a football tournament in Okeogun axis which captures attention of many people especially football lovers.

Many people have been speculating that he wanted to vie for the Senatorial position in 2019.

4. Otunba Adebayo Akala.


The Ogbomoso born Polician was born in  June 3, 1950).
From the position of Station Officer in the Nigeria Police, he became Administrative Officer, Federal Operation, Federal Headquarters, Lagos and rose to the position of Operations Officer, FEDOPS, Lagos. The steady rise of Otunba Alao-Akala to fame and fortune reached its apogee when he became the Personal Assistant to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police and subsequently the ADC to the Inspector-General of Police.

In the political arena, Otunba (Dr) Adebayo Alao-Akala could be rightly described as a man with the midas touch. He started his political career as a member of New Dimension, a political association of progressive young elements. He participated in the zero-party local government election of 1996 and later co-founded the UNP before its fusion with UNC to form UNCP. In the 1997 local government elections, Otunba Alao-Akala sponsored the chairmanship candidate and seven councilors to victory on the ticket of the UNCP. He participated in the Ogbomoso Federal Constituency (One) primary election of the UNCP in 1997. He contested and won the chairmanship seat of the Ogbomoso North Local Government along with seven councilors under the platform of APP in 1998.
He was elected vice-chairman of ALGON, Oyo State Chapter between 1999 and 2002. A versatile and visionary political leader, Alao-Akala founded the Ogbomoso Unity Forum, a political association which later joined the PDP. He was the Executive Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government from 1999 to 2002.
Dr) Adebayo popularly known as “Omo Iya Alaro” became the Deputy Governor of Oyo State from May 2003 to January 2006. To crown his efforts in life, the Almighty God who directs the affairs of man, took Otunba Alao-Akala to the pinnacle of his political career when he became the Executive Governor of Oyo State in January 2006, a position he occupied till May 2011.

On 8th December 2014, Otunba (Dr) Adebayo Alao-Akala defected to the Labour Party in Oyo State due to internal irregularities in his former party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). On 10th December 2014, he formally declared his intention to re-contest the gubernatorial election of Oyo State on the platform of the Labour Party in the February 2015 general elections in Nigeria. During his declaration of intent, all other party gubernatorial aspirants stepped down for him, thereby making him emerge as the Labour party’s gubernatorial flag bearer in Oyo State.

Many people are of the opinion that he may contest for a senatorial seat in 2019.
