OGBOMOSO-BORN LAWMAKER, OLAGUNJU OJO MAY EMERGE AS THE NEXT OYO SPEAKER
Hon. Joshua Olagunju Ojo, Minority Leader of the Oyo state House of Assembly is among the lobbyists who are having their eyes trained on the State assembly speaker position after the sudden death of the late Speaker, Rt Hon Michael Adeyemo.
Sources confirm that ,big names who are either serving as Principal Officers or Committee Leaders in the Hallowed Chamber of the House have expressed interest to steer the assembly as they restrategise on making a comeback in the State limelight in 2019 .
Oyovoice.com Reporters gathers that, the lamwaker representing Oriire state constituency is the choice of the Governor and some bigwigs in the APC.
Recall that the State speaker position has become lucrative in the devolved units and the Assembly speaker enjoys a number of privileges while in office.
It was also gathered that the state Governor Senator Ajimobi had met with some lawmakers in APC where he informed them of the government position and why he chose Hon Ojo.
Although about four people including the Deputy Speaker, Hon Abdulwasi Tunde Musa are eyeing the seat.
An inside source also informed our reporter that some lawmaker have vowed to resist any imposition from the Governor but to vote when the house resume on the 16th of May
It would be recalled that the immediate past Speaker Hon. Michael Adeyemo died on April 27 .
Hon Gunju Ojo , a former Deputy Speaker was re-elected in 2015 under the platform of Labour Party. He is a strong member of Alao Akala political group till date.
