In furtherance of its policy of encouraging the culture of saving money and rewarding customers that bank with it, the management of Diamond Bank Plc gave out N25million rewards to 40 customers.
Also, Adegbite Oluwatoyin from Abeokuta, Ogun State, went away with a brand new Hyundai Accent car.
The event was the, “Diamond Xtra Corporate Draw” held at Mokola, Ibadan, Oyo State capital, where 30 persons who had deposited a minimum of N5,000 with the lender were given N500,000 each and N1million each went to 10 people.
Speaking with New Telegraph on the purpose of the draw, Mrs Aisha Ahmad, (Head, Consumer Banking), said, “What we are trying to achieve is to ensure that Nigerians secure their future. If you look at every economy that is vibrant, they usually have a very large saving culture. To encourage customers to stay, we then crated this reward. We go through a very transparent and open process that is vetted by KPMG, our regulating agent. As customers continue to win these prizes, they get used to this saving culture, and this is only for Diamond Bank customers all over the country. Through this, Diamond is fostering development, encouraging growth and enabling families.
“The concept of ‘salary for life’ is very interesting in that if anybody wins the ticket, he or she gets a monthly salary of N100,000 for 20 years. It is the same process of what we have been doing for the past nine years. Today, we are giving N500, 000 to 30 people; N1million to 10 people and fabulous brand new Hynudai Accent car is going to be driven away by somebody. What anybody needs to do is to have N5, 000 minimum deposit in their account. The more you have N5, 000, the more you get tickets, and the more the chances of winning. Any customer can withdraw from the money deposited, but it is better if it is allowed to be growing. And the truth about the whole thing is that you don’t know who is going to win.”
Confirming the transparent and credible nature of the draw, a representative of the KPMG accounting firm, Kenneth Ukanwa, said : “We do ensure that the procedure set out for this draw is transparently followed. Every N5, 000 attracts an electronic ticket and it is real. “We can confirm that names of all customers going into the draw are computerised into our system. We review the script of the selection process to ensure there is no fraud in it. We always do verification in Lagos and at the point of draw.”
Corroborating the transparent nature of the draw, Osita Ede (Head, Mass Marketing Segment) said : “We started this programme nine years ago. Last year, somebody from Ibadan here won an SUV car. The in-thing is that we are encouraging people to keep their money where it is working for them”.
One of the previous winners, Mrs Chinyere Joy, who testified to the sincerity of purpose of the Diamond Bank, said : “I deposited N5,000 in 2015 and not quite long, a number called me from Amunigun branch of Diamond in Ibadan here saying that I had won N50,000 and that I should come and collect it. It was like a dream to me when they handed over the money to me. Since then, I have been banking with them. The programme is real”, she told the gathering of customers
