CHIEF SAMUEL ADEGBIJI ADEKOLA, JP THE ASIWAJU OF OFIKILAND :

Chief Samuel Adegbiji was born in Ofiki on March 21, 1936 into the family of Late Pa. Adekola Alabi and Mama Jokanola Ayoka Adekola. He had his elementary school education in the Baptist Day School, Ago-are from 1947 to 1953 where he obtained Standard Six Certificate. In 1957 to 1958, he proceeded to the Local Authority Teacher Teaching College, Oyo, where he obtained Grade III Teachers Certificate (LATTC).

From 1962 to 1963, Adekola trained as Grade II Certificate. He obtained GCE O/L University of London January 1973. He later had admission to the William Carey College now William Carey University, Hattiesburg to the University of Southern Mississippi, where he obtained Master Degree in Education (M.Ed) in 1977 and 1978 respectively. He had overseas travels to United State of America (USA) for further studies in 1974-1978.

Chief Samuel Adegbiji Adekola started his public service career as a teacher in 1954 at First Baptist Day School, Iwere-ile, Iwajowa Local Government Headquarters. Between this time and August 1979, he taught at other primary Schools and Colleges including the First Baptist Day School, Igboho 1964-1965 as Headmaster. He worked as Leaf/Senior Instructor under NTC now BATN,1965-1974, Grade II Teacher College Saki August 1974 to August 1979 as a Tutor.

He joined Nigeria Tobacco Company NTC now BATN between September 1979 to December 1989, then he was the Area Leaf Manager from 1979 to 1981 , Ogbomosho District Leaf Manager, Ogbomosho 1982 to 1983 District Leaf Manager, Iseyin 1984 to 1987 and District Leaf Manager, Ago-are, 1988 to 1989. Chief Samuel Adekola is a politician and he did not veer into politics by mere accident.

He really has politics in his blood and he was elected as the Executive Local Government Chairman, Ifedapo Local Government Council, Saki (now broken into 3 Councils : ATISBO, Saki East, and Saki West) between September 1992 to November 17th 1993.

Chief Samuel Adegbiji Adekola was appointed a Justice of Peace of Oyo State in 2001. He traveled to United Kingdom, Netherlands and London on Local Government Chairmen Delegation twice in 1993. He also traveled to Toronto Canada in January 1993 and to Germany June 1993 on Local Government Chairmen Delegation. He served as a Member, Board of Governors, Baptist Secondary School, Ago-are, 1980-1983, Irawo Comprehensive High School Irawo, 1986-1989. He served as Chairman Board of Governors, Ofiki Grammar School 1990-2000.

He served as General Secretary ATISBO UNION, ATISBO Local Government for ten years (1964-1974). He is happily married to Mrs. Deborah Aderoju Adekola and blessed with children.
