Armed robber in Police Uniform paraded in Ibadan.
Members of an armed robbery gang, who made use of Mobile Police uniforms to carry out their criminal acts have been paraded by the police command in Ibadan.
Confessing to the crime, 33-year-old,who was identified as Babalola Saka Bolaji, arrested in Ibadan, robbing people and extorting motorists with the aid of Police uniform he had stolen when working as a launderer in Lagos.
The hardened Criminal also made a confessional statement that he got the Security uniforms when he was recruited in a Security station in Lagos and developed interest and keen to be recruited as a Police Officer after he put on the Security Uniforms purchased for laundering services.
It was further gathered that the suspect was among 23 others paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abiodun Odude, at Eleyele, Ibadan.
The suspects paraded at the weekend were nabbed over series of offences ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping, Internet fraud, stealing, impersonation and so on. Items said to have been recovered from the suspects included five arms, four vehicles, one motorcycle, 11 sewing machines, laptops, phones, police kits and cash.
Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Police Commissioner for Police , Mr. Abiodun Odude, said the robbers were nabbed on July 1, 2017 at a trailer park at Akinyele, Ibadan, through the help of a member of local vigilance group in the area.
His words :
“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to have stolen the kits from a yet-to-be identified police officer in Lagos. It is suspected that before his arrest, the suspect had been using the police kits/uniform to rob unsuspecting innocent victims.”
The police boss said the exhibits recovered from Bolaji included one police camouflage golf/faze cap with mobile police badge, a black T-shirt with police logo, one black belt and two receipt booklets.
