Alao-Akala, Folarin To Declare For APC This Week
There were strong indications at the weekend that Adebayo Alao-Akala, former Oyo State governor, and Teslim Folarin, former Senate Majority leader, may this week publicly declare for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Abiola Ajimobi, Oyo State governor, recently informed his party members that some big politicians in the state had concluded arrangements to defect to the ruling APC.
Ajimobi informed further that the political big wigs would formerly join the ruling party in a carnival-like ceremony to be organised soon by APC leadership in the state.
However, sources close to the Oyo APC informed Newsherald on Sunday that Alao-Akala and Folarin were among political giants expected to formerly defect to the ruling party along with their loyalists in both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP).
Also the featuring on a political programme in one of the private radio stations in Ibadan Sunday, Wasiu Sadare, the Publicity Secretary of the Oyo APC, said the possibility of having Alao-Akala and Folarin among the expected defectors could not be ruled out.
Sadare maintained that former Governor Alao-Akala was already in the APC and that the political party was only waiting for him to publicly declare for the party, adding that Folarin was also eminently qualified to join the ruling party.
Meanwhile, Alao -Akala at the weekend declared that he remained a member of the ruling APC, saying that the recent visits of his former boss, Senator Rashidi Ladoja and members of PDP reconciliation committee to his Ibadan residence have not changed his decision.
