Akeem Ige charges Operation Burst to eradicate all sorts incriminalities in Oyo State.
Hon. Ademola Akeem Ige, a State Lawmaker representing Ibadan South East Constituency II has charged the newly rebranded and inaugurated security outfit code named, ‘Operation Burst’ by governing party under the leadership of Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State to eradicate of all forms of brigandage, armed robbery and other vices in the State that was hitherto rampant in some parts of the state.
He made this known while reacting to the inauguration of the new Board of Trustees for the State’s Security Trust Fund headed by the Deputy Governor, Operations of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Chief Bayo Adelabu and inauguration of the newly reconstituted State’s Joint Security Task Force, ‘Operation Burst’ by Governor Ajimobi at Idi Arere which is one of the hot spots for violent activities in Ibadan last Friday.
Hon. Ademola Ige equally lauded the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Michael Adeyemo and other members in the House for amending the Trust Fund Bill which had paved the way for private sectors involvement towards the sustenance of peace in the State.
Hon. Ige expressed his happiness that this action by the government came barely two months after he moved a motion on the floor of the House on the need to put an end to the incessant night robbery attacks on innocent citizens within Ibadan metropolis when the rate of robbery attacks on innocent citizens of the State particularly in Ibadan South East Constituency became the order of the day and residents in this locality were having sleepless nights as a result of the activities of these marauders.
Hon Ige who recalled with sadness that the activities of these criminal minded people in the last one and half years in the state, had claimed the lives of many citizens including one of their members, Hon. Gideon Aremu who was until his death, the chairman House committee on Security that was gruesomely assassinated in front of his house, security night guards, police officer and other innocent citizens at Ibuko (IMG school), Molusi, Olorunsogo, Molete, Keshinro, Onigari, Adeyemo,Eyin Grammar, Odinjo, Academy, Odo Oba, Aperin Oniyere, Kudeti, Yejide, Felele axis and so on, while other people were equally dispossessed of their valuable belongings and property worth millions of naira.
He, however, explained that with the inauguration and reinvogoration of the Operation Burst by the Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the government has further demonstrated his commitment to nipping the security challenges in the bud, stressing that this step has signalled end of the road for rampaging miscreants, armed robberies, burglary, brigandage, spilling of blood, rape and perpetrators of violence in the state.
Hon. Ige equally enjoined members of the Board of Trustees of Security Trust Fund to use their contacts, connections and wealth of experience to raise funds for government in order to ensure the success and sustainability of peace and crime free society in the State.
